Day 2
"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." Matthew 7:24-25 NIV
The most important part of any structure is the foundation. You can have beautiful architecture, custom windows, and beautiful flooring, but if the foundation is weak, everything eventually shifts and falls. Jesus teaches the same truth about your life— what you build your life on determines how it stands.
In Matthew 7, Jesus doesn't say the wise person knows his words. He says a wise person hears them and follows them. The difference between a shaky life and a strong life is not the information that you consume; it's the obedience you walk in. God's word is not just inspirational reading; it is the blueprint for your life and the steady rock beneath your feet when the storms of life come.
When you open scripture, you're not reading words from the past. You are receiving direction for today. God is taking your thoughts, aligning your priorities, exposing what needs healing, and strengthening what needs reinforcing. If you want a life that stands in adversity, you must build it with His truth and not your feelings, your circumstances, or our culture.
A builder doesn't argue with the blueprint. He follows it, and when you do the same, you'll find that God's word creates a life that nothing can shake.
Today:
• Start a daily rhythm of scripture— start small and be consistent.
• Don't just read— respond. Before closing your Bible, ask what does this verse call me to do today?
• Replace lies with truth— identify a false belief you've lived by and write down the verse that confronts it.
• Build today on one scripture— choose one verse today, and let it guide your decisions, conversations, and thoughts.
