Day 2
These days it can be difficult to know what is real and what is fake.
To cope with all this uncertainty, our culture tells us to come to our own conclusions and find our own truth. As any comment section accompanying online content will attest, this approach leads to chaos and confrontation. Fortunately, the Bible offers us an alternative.
In the Bible, truth offers us a way out of the “opinion prisons” this world tells us we are expected to build for ourselves. Truth acts like a rescuer who acquires the keys to our prison cells and sets us free. Strangely, we are often tempted by the lie that we are safer in the confines of our own wisdom regarding how we should act, how we should live, and even how we see our own identity. But the prison door is open. God’s own wisdom - truth - sets us free.
The Bible claims to be inspired by the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us out of falsehoods and into truth. Today is a really good day to ponder some of the lies that are holding you hostage. Jesus paid the ransom with His life, and rose to lead you out of that captivity and into eternal life with Him.
No matter what your story is, there is an abundance of hope for you because of the Truth of Jesus. God has given you an open door to live a free and God-centered life through your relationship with Jesus, the wisdom of His Word, and your spiritual family of other believers.
Reflection:
I have been believing the lie of _________
The truth that sets me free from the lie is_________
Prayer:
Today, I pray against the lies that have been holding me back in my relationship with You. I step out of the captivity these lies have held me in, and instead I take these lies captive and throw away the key. I will live in the freedom of Your Word. Thank you, Lord, for Your truth that sets me free.
Bible Verses:
“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” - John 8:31-32 NIV
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” - 2 Corinthians 10: 4-5
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” - 2 Peter 1:3 NIV
