Day 6

Jan 13, 2025

Before Christ, we lived as we saw best in our own eyes; we lived primarily to please ourselves. But the old life is gone and the new life is here. Our focus has shifted away from gratifying ourselves and onto loving God and other people. This is because we are now set apart for God. As Christians, we don’t belong to ourselves, but to God, and He wants to use us to further His kingdom on earth.

We normally hear the word “purity” in reference to sexuality, but it applies to our whole hearts. Purity is something worth fighting for because it brings wholeness.

God calls us to a life of purity as believers, not necessarily to make it to the “finish line” of marriage undefiled, but for us to live out our God-given purpose without any hindrances.

So often, we make excuses for this area of our life. Why? Because sin can be both comforting and addictive. But you know what? Sometimes it’s okay to be uncomfortable. It’s very worthwhile to go through the withdrawals associated with giving up a sin in order to enjoy the recovered and fulfilling life Jesus offers.

When we keep sin hidden in the dark, they only fester.

Today, bring whatever you have been struggling with into the light. When we bring our sin to the light, we allow God to bring healing and restoration. Not only does He forgive us; He also provides the power to live out the forgiven life every day.

Reflection:

What needs to be brought to light in your life?

What do you need to run from to protect your purity?

Action Steps:

Bible Verses:

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 NIV
